writing prompts #8 & 9

Writing prompts #8 You see a bright light coming from your room at night. As I arrived home from the movies I noticed a light from my room. I thought it was odd because I was pretty sure that I turned off all the lights in my room.   When I got to my room no one was there.   What happened? How did the lights go on? Did I accidentally leave it on or did someone in my family go in to look for something or put something away and forgot to turn the lights back off? As I put my pajamas on and got into bed I found a note lying on the floor. I picked it up and read it. Hey sis, Hope you don't mind, I borrowed your blue frilly dress by Calvin Klein for a date tonight. Hope the movie was good! See you tomorrow. Love you! So that's how the lights were left on! #9 There's a lot of people laughing around your cubicle, but you don't know why. Not sure what happened, I must have been super caught up in my work which is pretty boring...

writing prompt #6

Writing prompt #6                                 6/22/19 You receive an old letter, dated 1914 but it’s from yourself. There is something nice about receiving a letter. I was excited when I saw the letter. I carefully ripped it open. As I started reading it I noticed that it was dated 1914. I was curious and felt it was odd. Why was it dated 1914? It must be a mistake as I wasn’t even born yet. It is July 2014 and I just finished grade 9. I continued to read it. Dear Lucy,                                  1914     How are you? I have 3 questions for you. Where do you see yourself when you are 30? What dream job do you want? Where do you want to live in the future? From, Lucy When i got to the end I had to reread the name. I got a ...

Writing prompt #2: You are alone in a room but you don't remember how you got there.   Have you ever had one of those moments where your standing in a room asking yourself why you are there? And how you got there?   Well that's me right now standing in the kitchen trying to figure out how and why I came here?   Let's start backwards, what was I doing before? Was I trying to figure out my weekly meals? Feed the cat? Have I fed the cat yet? Figure out what groceries to buy?   How did I enter the kitchen? Did I come from the hallway or the dining room? I don't really care about how I got here but why did I come in here? I will check the cat food, nope all fed! Which means that I must have been figuring out what to make for my weekly meals in the dining room and came in here to check what I need for groceries. I am thinking of making quinoa, broccoli and ground beef sounds good!

Writing prompt #1

Writing prompt #1: write about a ship or other vehicle that can take you somewhere different from where you are now. Where would I go that's not Vancouver BC? I would like to move to Portland Oregon one day and would take a train there. I would take the train because it has great coastal views, I can walk from the car my seat is in to the food car. In a train you can sit back, relax, read, sleep, work on your tablet or watch a movie on your tablet.  The train reminds me of my visit to Japan last year. The train system in Japan is great! You can travel the whole country by train in comfort! The views are great, they are of the countryside, lakes and rivers and mountains.  Why would I go to Portland? Portland seems somewhat similar to Vancouver. I feel like there is more of a local vibe to it, younger active people. There seems to be more pet friendly rentals. I would be in between my Dad's side of the family in California and my Mom's side in Vancouver Canada.  I wish ...

The Italian diner

The Italian Diner Dale, Linda and Buggles (the cat) My wife Linda and I bought Calzones Italian Diner and the motel above it 14 years ago. I do the cooking while she does the serving.  We both run the motel. A few years ago we adopted an orange tabby cat named niggles who loves catching mice in the kitchen.  Recently we wanted to find out from customers about how they found our diner. This is what we got from our newest server Jane and the first four customers she got on her first overnight shift. Jane and Erika My life as a waitress at the diner all started while I was on the run from my ex. My daughter and I were driving west from Massachusetts.  We were in Wyoming near Casper when we saw a diner off of highway 20. The diners name read Calzones. It's an Italian truck stop diner not the usual all American diner so of course we had to go in.  I was secretly hoping that we could stay in the motel 8 above the diner for a while. I was tired and start...
