photo memories

Writing Prompt: Cleaning your room you find an old photograph. Pleasant memories awake.   Do you ever get that feeling of needing to organize and clean a space in a room or a room in your home? Well that’s the feeling I got recently with my bedroom.   In my bedroom I have two bookshelves, my dresser, a nightstand and under my bed I have two boxes. Between my bookshelves, nightstand and the two boxes under my bed that’s a lot to organize and go through.    I decided to start with my smaller bookshelf that has several magazine holders on it with folders of somewhat useless stuff. As I was going through the folders I came upon some old photographs of my childhood days which brought some good memories.   The first photo I came across was of me on a horse. Growing up I tried a lot of different activities. Baseball, Karate, Swimming, Field Hockey Even Horse Riding lessons. The Horse Riding lessons lasted the longest. I wasn’t too bad at it. I could walk, trot, canter and I even did s

people watching

Writing Prompt: Everyday for about an hour you observe people in the park. What did you see today?     People watching is something you can do in a mall, coffee shop, or even in a park. This has been one of my favorite activities this past summer in a park. I would regulate the same park almost everyday. First I would grab a tea or smoothie and then head off to the park with a notebook for writing and a book for reading.    As I sat on the bench I watched people out walking with kids and or pets. Some were biking, rollerblading and running. The bikers made me want to go get my bike and ride. Rollerblader made me remember how when I was a kid I would rollerblade around a school as my parents played tennis. Joggers remind me of how my feet hurt sometimes, that's why I stick to biking and the gym.     Looking over to the grass I notice some people are lying on towels by themselves reading and tanning, others are in a group sitting and chatting, listening to music. The families are si

Missing my stop

Writing Prompt: You miss your destination by several stops, when you fall asleep on a train.   I often see an occasional person on the train sleeping and will wonder what happens when they miss their stop?    That happened to me recently after a long day at work. It was a busy Christmas Eve and I was exhausted. As I got onto the train I decided to rest my head against the window just for a bit. Before I knew it I was asleep and completely missed my stop.     When I woke up I panicked and felt unsettled not knowing exactly where I was. It took a few minutes for me to get my bearings before I realized that I had fallen asleep and missed my stop. I quickly got off at the next stop which was metrotown so that I could switch trains and head back to hopefully not fall asleep again on my way to lougheed station. I decided to go to the nearest Tim Hortons before getting back on the train and getting myself a large cup of coffee to keep me awake this time around.
