Writing prompt #1

Writing prompt #1: write about a ship or other vehicle that can take you somewhere different from where you are now. Where would I go that's not Vancouver BC? I would like to move to Portland Oregon one day and would take a train there. I would take the train because it has great coastal views, I can walk from the car my seat is in to the food car. In a train you can sit back, relax, read, sleep, work on your tablet or watch a movie on your tablet.  The train reminds me of my visit to Japan last year. The train system in Japan is great! You can travel the whole country by train in comfort! The views are great, they are of the countryside, lakes and rivers and mountains.  Why would I go to Portland? Portland seems somewhat similar to Vancouver. I feel like there is more of a local vibe to it, younger active people. There seems to be more pet friendly rentals. I would be in between my Dad's side of the family in California and my Mom's side in Vancouver Canada.  I wish th

The Italian diner

The Italian Diner Dale, Linda and Buggles (the cat) My wife Linda and I bought Calzones Italian Diner and the motel above it 14 years ago. I do the cooking while she does the serving.  We both run the motel. A few years ago we adopted an orange tabby cat named niggles who loves catching mice in the kitchen.  Recently we wanted to find out from customers about how they found our diner. This is what we got from our newest server Jane and the first four customers she got on her first overnight shift. Jane and Erika My life as a waitress at the diner all started while I was on the run from my ex. My daughter and I were driving west from Massachusetts.  We were in Wyoming near Casper when we saw a diner off of highway 20. The diners name read Calzones. It's an Italian truck stop diner not the usual all American diner so of course we had to go in.  I was secretly hoping that we could stay in the motel 8 above the diner for a while. I was tired and starting to run low
